(she/her)
Nahiyan is a 1.5 generation Bangladeshi American, who has worked extensively in the Public Health field.
Influenced by her own experiences accessing reproductive health, she has focused her advocacy on Sexual and Reproductive Health, having worked as a high school health educator, an abortion policy researcher and abortion advocate. As a South Asian woman, she understands the difficulty our community faces when it comes to discussing and accessing reproductive health, and hopes to lower that stigma and improve accessibility in the community through program planning.
Nahiyan was raised in Pennsylvania but came to New York for undergrad, where she studied Public Health and Anthropology at NYU. After working as a contact tracer during the COVID pandemic she was inspired to pursue her MPH in Epidemiology at Columbia with a focus on human rights.
Nahiyan is also the proud mother to a Russian Blue named Muffin.
